Within Indian cinema, Bollywood is ahead of any regional film industry in terms of fan base. Hindi has made Bollywood a major audience for the Indian film market. Before the COVID pandemic, about 1,500-2,000 films were made in India every year and about 20 years ago, half of these films were in Hindi. Because then the filmmakers had the power and they knew that more people would watch Hindi movies from which they would make money. They made those movies in big cities with beautiful actors and actresses. But how much longer will this continue? Thus, after 2000, regional films began to be remade in Hindi. Films that were already popular were made in Hindi by different directors. But now South Indian films have at least somewhat more fans than Bollywood films. In this case we can talk about the movie ‘Baahubali’, this movie was made in 10 languages which included Japanese, Chinese, Taiwanese, French, Spanish, German etc. besides Indian languages. Similarly, the success of films like ‘2.O’, ‘RRR’, ‘KGF’, ‘Pushpa’ proves that The success of South Indian cinema indicates that South Indian filmmakers are doing something that Bollywood filmmakers do not. On the one hand, Bollywood has forgotten its roots and become completely immersed in western culture and consistently alienated with its audience. On the other hand, South Indian films are making films based on the stories of ancient Indian culture and civilization. Language can never be a barrier in cinema so where 44% of Hindi cinema reigned has now dropped to 27%.
